What is PAELLA POP?
PAELLA POP is an aesthetic art project dedicated to organizing a series of cultural events in major cities where international contemporary art is brewing. It proposes new cross-disciplinary relationships between the arts and the public, through a transgressive prism and in connection with the latest debates of today.
The central purpose of PAELLA POP, and its special appeal, is to inspire a relationship between the art world, the public, and a giant hybrid paella, one that fulfills its traditional role of bringing people together but whose ingredients vary depending on the city and culture where it is cooked. At each event, the attendees will enjoy this original paella accompanied by performances, dance, music, installations, and other disciplines, thanks to the collaboration with emerging artists in each city .

Nomads of the eternal seeking, hybrids in the growing universe,
everything is transforming and relating, while everyth ing is moving.
Now that everyone is different, nobody is.
PAELLA POP was born in the belief that art should be fun, interactive and questioning, that art can be an experiential event and a catalyst for big change, with a conceptual and philosophical basis related to innovations in knowledge. From the work of Nicolas Bourriaud comes relational art, with which it’s intended to open up the meeting and its synergies.
Here are common motivations and characteristics of PAELLA POP:
questioner
we propose questions of general interest with the intention of questioning established stereotypes, as the distinctions of gender, race and sexuality. Therefore we help to build a future overcomed, based on the Queer ambiguity as a unit and as a transgression of the setted up.
hybrid
The most interesting fields of study are the endless mergers between nodes. Places of no-limits, of open and changing concepts for a tomorrow mestizo and rich in nuances. Where merge relations between high-, media- and popular culture, offering new languages created by combining in art of different cultures, bringing the origin place traditions to the global world of today.
transdisciplinar
We combine different artistic languages and gastronomy because we are interested on relational art, where prioritize experience and artistic enjoyment beyond the art-object. Creating a favourable environment for reflection and generation of synergies among attendees.
proactive
We use the motivation and irony to reconsider today topics, offering the possibility of causing multiple open and constructive solutions. The intention is to activate the viewer becoming a partner capable of modeling concepts with their own choice of stimuli.
nutritious
We collaborate to energize the neighborhoods in which we intervene, offering to neighbors, artists, art- and gastronomy lovers an approach to the emerging proposals. With these new proposals, codes and languages, culture is generated and it expands the collective imagination, first steps for a social transformation

Suppose that the flutter of a butterfly can cause a hurricane. We intend that the actions that happen will have an impact both in the mind of the visitor and the own agents of action, producing a mutual intoxication.

We understand the Pop-Up events as new spaces of freedom for creativity and generation of new ideas, where minorities have voice and the social change has a place. Today the society is in need of constant motion, so we propose a migratory project that interrelates art centers.
collaborative
roposals are developing in horizontal dialogue with artists from different backgrounds, approaches and disciplines. Among artists and attendees is cooking the generating power of PAELLA POP.

Who are PAELLA POP?
PAELLA POP is becoming a community of artists united by a common understanding. A large network that is woven and nourishes with (and) emerging artists, led by its creators Paula Gómez Rosado and Juan Carlos Rosa Casasola.
Paula Gómez Rosado (Madrid, 1986), based in New York in the last two years, works as art director in an editorial in Manhattan and develops in parallel events of art and gastronomy.
Juan Carlos Rosa Casasola (Benidorm, 1988), visual artist with international projection. His work was recently exhibited at the Tate Britain in London and in museums and galleries in Berlin, Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia.
PAELLA POP New York edition
Today the neighborhood of Bushwick (Brooklyn) is the place where is brewing the energy that illuminates the most advanced ideas of contemporary art. For this reason the event takes place in one of the studios of Bushwick, particularly at the building and nearby of the Isidro Blasco’s Studio, one of spanish artists with more international impact.
PAELLA POP generate an space of synergies and reflexión between the artists and the Spanish- and hybrid culture. Was presented in Manhattan at the Spanish National Center last April 19 2015, where the artists presented the development and rationale for the project which will take place on Saturday May 2. In this first edition are given six complementary lines of work: Installation, Dance, Music, Performance, Fashion and Relational Art.

Cook a paella combining ingredients of the traditional recipe and the characteristic barbecue flavor of the United States, offering it to the audience through a performance. They also show a serie of flying saucers made with modificated paellas and a site-specific installation of a mobile tipi construction.

This famous visual artist who lives in the US presents recent works of the series Planets.
Ana María Gómez & Víctor Alonso.
A group of dancers will interpretate the choreography ot these talented young artists. They fuses ballet and traditional dance movements of their culture of origin, led to a contemporary code.

Ballerina who hybridizes contemporary ballet and hiphop.

Presents her unpublished performance Marmarilla. Mar is pioneer with senses theatre and her career is focused in research the healing capacity of performance.

The organization has also the support of La Paella (main distributor of paellas in the US) who raffled 20 paellas among attendees, DownHill Publishing is the publisher responsible for printing all the graphics, the Spanish Centre National where will be the presentation of the project, the well known artist Isidro Blasco who offers his studio. In broadcasting also collaborate multiple art galleries and institutions of Bushwick/Williamsburg neighborhood.
Qué es PAELLA POP?
PAELLA POP es un proyecto de arte relacional dedicado a organizar una serie de eventos culturales en los principales núcleos internacionales donde se gesta el arte contemporáneo. Propone nuevas relaciones transdisciplinares entre las artes y el público asistente, desde un prisma transgresor y en consonancia con los últimos debates de la actualidad.
El motivo central de PAELLA POP, y especial atractivo del evento, es la relación del arte con la elaboración de una gran paella híbrida que mantiene su carácter tradicional de lugar de encuentro y relaciones, pero varía sus ingredientes en función de la cultura en la que se presenta. En cada evento los asistentes disfrutarán de un plato de esta original paella acompañado de performance, danza, música e instalaciones, entre otras disciplinas, gracias a la colaboración de profesionales emergentes residentes en cada ciudad donde se realiza la convocatoria.

PAELLA POP nace en la creencia de que el arte debe ser divertido, interactivo y cuestionador. Arte como experiencia vivencial y de capacidad generadora, sustentado en una base conceptual y filosófica relacionada con las innovaciones en ámbitos del conocimiento. A partir de los planteamientos de Nicolas Bourriaud surge el arte relacional, con el que se pretende propiciar el encuentro y sus sinergias.

Cuestionador
Proponemos preguntas de interés general con la intención de cuestionar los estereotipos establecidos, como las distinciones de género, raza y sexualidad. Por ello ayudamos a construir un futuro superado, basado en la ambigüedad Queer como unidad y como transgresión de lo establecido.
híbrido
Los campos más interesantes de estudio son las infinitas fusiones entre los nodos. Lugares de no-límites, de conceptos abiertos y cambiantes para un mañana mestizo y rico en matices. Donde se funden las relaciones entre alta cultura, cultura mediática y cultura popular, ofreciendo nuevos lenguajes creados por la combinación en arte de culturas diferentes, llevando las tradiciones del lugar de origen al mundo global de hoy.
transdisciplinar
Aunamos diferentes lenguajes artísticos y gastronomía porque nos interesa el arte relacional, donde prima la vivencia y el disfrute artístico más allá del arte-objeto. Creando un ambiente propicio para la reflexión y generación de sinergias entre los asistentes.
proactivo
Usamos la motivación y la ironía para replantear temas de actualidad, ofreciendo la posibilidad de originar múltiples soluciones abiertas y constructivas. La intención es activar al espectador y que se convierta en un interlocutor capaz de modelar los conceptos con su propia selección de estímulos.
nutritivo
Colaboramos en la dinamización de los barrios en los que intervenimos, ofreciendo a los vecinos, artistas, amantes del arte y la gastronomía un acercamiento a las propuestas emergentes. Con estas nuevas propuestas, códigos y lenguajes se genera cultura y se amplía el imaginario colectivo, primeros pasos para una transformación social.

Imaginemos que el aleteo de una mariposa puede desencadenar un huracán. Pretendemos que las acciones que acontezcan tengan una repercusión tanto en la mente del visitante como en la de los propios agentes de la acción, produciendo una intoxicación mutua.

Entendemos los eventos Pop-Up como nuevos espacios de libertad para la creatividad y la generación de nuevas ideas, donde las minorías tienen voz y el cambio social tiene un lugar. Hoy la sociedad tiene la necesidad del movimiento constante, por ello proponemos un proyecto migratorio que interrelaciona los núcleos artísticos.
colaborativo
Las propuestas se gestan en diálogo horizontal con artistas provenientes de diferentes orígenes, planteamientos y disciplinas. Entre artistas y asistentes se cocina la energía generadora de PAELLA POP.

utilizamos una cuidada estética que remite a un futuro cercano y que ilustra las características anteriores con referencias a lo Queer y a las series B.
Quiénes son PAELLA POP?
PAELLA POP comienza a ser una comunidad de artistas unidos por un entendimiento común. Una gran red que se teje y nutre con (y de) artistas emergentes, liderada por sus creadores Paula Gómez Rosado y Juan Carlos Rosa Casasola.
Paula Gómez Rosado (Madrid, 1986), afincada en Nueva York en los últimos dos años, trabaja como directora de arte en una editorial de Manhattan y desarrolla de forma paralela eventos de arte y gastronomía.
Juan Carlos Rosa Casasola (Benidorm, 1988), artista visual con proyección internacional. Su obra ha sido expuesta recientemente en la Tate Britain de Londres y en museos y galerías de Berlín, Madrid, Barcelona y Valencia.
PAELLA POP edición Nueva York
Gracias a la presencia e intervenciones de los artistas, a día de hoy el barrio de Bushwick (Brooklyn) es donde se gesta la energía que ilumina las ideas más punteras del arte contemporáneo. Por este motivo el evento tiene lugar en uno de los estudios de Bushwick, en concreto en el edificio y los alrededores del taller de Isidro Blasco, uno de los artistas españoles de más repercusión internacional.
PAELLA POP se presentó en Manhattan en el Centro Español La Nacional el 19 de abril de 2015, donde los artistas expusieron el desarrollo y la fundamentación del proyecto que tendrá lugar el sábado 2 de mayo. En esta primera edición se dan seis líneas de trabajo complementarias: Instalación, Danza, Música, Performance, Moda y Arte Relacional.

Cocinarán una paella combinando ingredientes de la receta tradicional y el sabor barbacoa característico de los Estados Unidos, ofreciéndola a los asistentes mediante una performance. Además mostrarán una serie de platillos voladores realizados con paellas intervenidas y una instalación site-specific de una construcción tipi móvil.

Este reconocido artista visual residente en EEUU presenta obras de su serie Planetas.
Ana María Gómez & Víctor Alonso
Un grupo de bailarines interpretarán la coreografía de estos jóvenes con mucho talento. Fusionan el ballet y los movimientos de las danzas tradicionales de su cultura de origen llevado a un código contemporáneo.

Performance
explores the intersections between craft, queerness, and pop culture to position queerness as a site for incessant transformation and possibilities. Her playful work resists assimilation and mastery through an intentional disinvestment in finished work and proper use of materials. Sweet has shown internationally from Portland Or, to San Francisco Bay Area, New York City and Berlin. This includes such exhibitions as Mix 26 (NY 2013), Craftivism (NY 2013), Invisible Landscapes (
interactive multimedia artist who worked as a designer and curator of art installations and performances for MIX NYC for 5 years, and has been in a number of collaborations with really amazing artists. Currently he is a video playback operator for TV and films and lives in Brooklyn with his sweetie, Caitlin Rose, and their dog Disco.
